 (7) thumb and index finger together

"Xiao Cuo" is to pluck with your thumb and your index finger at the same time. Pay attention to the strength. Normally the main rhythm relies on the thumb; therefore, make sure that your index finger won’t pluck too hard to cover the sound from your thumb.

When you look at a music sheet, the upper number is for your thumb and the lower one is for your index finger.

Note : When playing, ensure that you can clearly hear “Do, La, So Mi” rather than “So, Mi, Re, Do”. Avoid both fingers from touching each one. Your index finger should be slightly to the right while your thumb should move slightly to the left.
